Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the inspirational, great and first Guru of Sikhism. He was a great man and preacher of religion. He was born in 1469 in a village in Punjab. He was highly inspired by his mother. His mother was of religious views. His mother had given good religious rites to Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak ji wanted to remove this dark ignorance which was flourishing in the world. Guru Nanak ji was of sharp intellect since childhood. He used to go to school, but he did not feel like studying. He always loved the life of sages and saints. Guru ji's father gave him the task of taking care of animals i.e. animal husbandry. But he was not pleased with it and did not feel like it. He used to spend most of his time in devotion and worship of God. Guru Nanak had a sister, His name was Nanaki.
